7. Empowering those in need
In our materialist world, taking time out for charity can seem like an empty promise for many. It’s not for Dennis Bothma CPA. He has always felt that he operates best at work when there is a driving force that goes well beyond just balancing the books.
As the chief financial officer of Indigenous services group, Kalwun Development Corporation, Bothma says he believes in balancing the “back-end boring stuff” at work with getting out of the office to see what the issues are on the ground.
Outside his day job, Bothma started the CPA Gold Coast Not for Profit Group that offers professional development services for those in need, especially organisations and people in the non-profit sector. Bothma is a strong believer in sharing his skills and knowledge to add strategic value where he can.
